PostHeaderIcon How to Connect PC to TV

The consumer faces a bewildering range of cable options when trying to connect their PC to their TV. They may wonder which cables give them the best sound and picture quality, and may also want to know the various options they have to connect their television and computer together. HDMI cables are by far the most popular cable of choice nowadays, but consumers are ill-informed that they have other options of connecting their television to their computer.

So, what are the ‘other options’ of connecting PC to TV?

If your computer, or PC, has a USB port or ‘socket’, there are many products available from numerous online retailers which will allow you to stream both audio and visual content wirelessly from your PC, provided that your Television has a HDMI port or socket (same thing). Fortunately, nearly all HD Televisions on sale in the UK are equipped with a HDMI socket, and every new 3D television is equipped with a HDMI port.

Connecting mini USB and micro USB PC to TV wirelessly

Some Laptops, Desktops, Tablet PCs and even Smartphones have mini USB or micro USB ports, and so to stream audio and visual content wirelessly from one of these devices, you would need a micro USB to USB (Type A) adapter, or mini USB to USB (Type A) adapter to use a Wireless PC to TV streamer.

Connecting iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to an HD Television screen with a HDMI cable.

If you want to connect your Apple iPad or iPhone to your Television screen, you can do this by using an Apple 30-Pin Dock connector to HDMI (Type A) adapter in conjunction with a HDMI (Type A) 1.4 cable. This combination of adapter and cable can also be used with the iPhone and iPod touch.

There is a staggering variety of HDMI cables available to the consumer at present, which can only be a good thing for the consumer. Due to massive competition, consumers have the power to demand ever-increasing levels of durability and transmission quality, at prices as low as 46p for a HDMI cable. It would be best to recommend any form of HDMI 1.4 cable from a trusted online retailer.

Is it worth investing big bucks into a snazzy HDMI cable?

If you have just spent your hard-earned cash on a 42″ HD Television, you may think that spending 40 on a “top-of-the-range” HDMI cable will ensure better image quality, but it is widely regarded that around 9.99 is a sensible amount to spend on a HDMI cable (to strike a good compromise between value and quality), unless you require a cable of more than 3 metres. Lengthier HDMI cables tend to cost more than 10, but are surely a cost-effective alternative to connecting PC to TV wirelessly.

If you don’t know your PC or TV connection type, use an online configurator to search for a PC and TV connection by Make and Model. If you don’t know the Make and Model of the PC and TV you want to connect, you can also search by cable connection type.

If your laptop lacks a HDMI input, but has a VGA socket, you have two options:

Option one: Buy a VGA (Male) to VGA (Male) cable, a VGA to HDMI converter box, a HDMI (Male) to HDMI (Male) cable, and a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable

Option two: If your PC also has a USB socket, use that instead and buy a Wireless PC to TV Streamer

Option one will cost you nearly the same as the wireless PC to TV streamer, because the VGA to HDMI converter box will set you back at least 39.99.

Most wireless PC to TV streamer devices are rated to work from a distance of up to 30 feet, so if you are planning to connect PC to TV wirelessly from a large distance, you will be better off using high quality HDMI cable, VGA cable and HDMI to VGA converter box, along with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable.

You will need a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable when connecting using VGA because VGA does not carry audio signal. VGA ports must be used in conjunction with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable when connecting PC to TV.

If you have a recent Apple laptop or PC, you are likely to have either a Mini DisplayPort socket or Apple Thunderbolt socket. Most new Mini DisplayPort adapters and cables are compatible with Apple Thunderbolt for connecting PC to TV, so if you are planning to connect your Mini Displayport or Thunderbolt equipped Apple device to your Apple LED Monitor, you can use a Thunderbolt cable. Like HDMI cables, Thunderbolt also carries audio signal.

If you want to connect your Apple Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort PC, Desktop, Laptop, Netbook or Tablet to your HDMI High Definition Television, you can use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, or Apple Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter.

Some new televisions come equipped with a DVI port (either a DVI-Integrated, DVI-Analogue, or DVI-Digital). DVI cables do not carry audio signal, so need to be used in conjunction with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable.

PostHeaderIcon Customer Relationship Management Failures

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) recognizes that customers are the core of a business and that a company’s success depends on effectively managing relationships with them. CRM focuses on building long-term and sustainable customer relationships that add value both for the customer and the company.

A large percentage of failures have been reported in Customer Relationship Management (CRM). For example, according to Zdnetindia.com/news, the founder and CEO of Customer.com estimated that 42 percent of the top 125 CRM sites experienced failures. Numerous failures are also reported by thinkanalytics.com, cio.com, CRM-forum.com, and many more. However, according to itgreycell.com, CRM failures are declining, from a failure rate of up to 80 percent in 1998 to about 50 percent in 2000.

Some of the major issues relating to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) failures are the following:

1. Difficulty measuring and valuing intangible benefits. There are few tangible benefits to CRM

2. Failure to identify and focus on specific business problems.

3. Lack of active senior management (non-IT) sponsorship.

4. Poor user acceptance, which can occur for a variety of reasons such as unclear benefits (i.e., CRM is a tool for management, but doesn’t help a rep sell more effectively) and usability issues.

5. Trying to automate a poorly defined process.

Strategies to deal with these and other problem are offered by many. (For example, see CIO.com for CRM implementation. Also see conspectos.com for “10 steps for CRM success”)

Customer Relationship Management failures could create substantial problems. Some companies are falling behind in their ability to handle the volume of site visitors and the volume of buyers. We describe the following suggestions for implementing CRM and avoiding CRM failure:

1. Conduct a survey to determine how the organization responds to customers.

2. Carefully consider the four components of CRM: sales, service, marketing and channel/partner management.

3. Survey how CRM accomplishments are measured; use defined metrics. Make sure quality, not just quantity, is addressed.

4. Consider how CRM software can help vis-a-vis the organization’s objective.

5. Evaluate all levels in the organization, but particularly frontline agents, field service, and salespeople.

6. Prioritize the organization’s requirements as: must, desired, and not important.

7. Select an appropriate CRM software. There are more than 60 vendors. Some (like Siebel) provide comprehensive packages, others provide only certain functions. Decide whether to use the best of breed approach or to go with one vendor. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) vendors, such as PeopleSoft and SAP, also offer CRM products.

PostHeaderIcon Should Your Business Prepay for IT Service Hours

There are a lot of different kinds of IT agreements out there, and probably just as many questions over what represents a good value and what doesn’t. But when it comes to prepaying for billable technology hours, business owners arrive at a particularly interesting conundrum: They’re likely to save money if they buy up front, but they also run the risk of purchasing technology help that they won’t need or use in the near future.

So should your company prepay for billable IT hours?

The short answer, from our point of view, is it depends. And what it depends on is the arrangement you’ve worked out with your IT computer support specialist or IT services provider. If you’re simply paying for a discounted “block of time” that you can use within six months or a year, for example, then we’re going to go against the grain and say it’s not advisable. After all, that might be great for your business IT consulting provider’s cash flow, but unless you are planning to have technology problems, then there’s no way to be certain that expense is ever going to be of value for you. And if you are planning on having technology problems, then why not fix them now before they end up costing your business more money?

We aren’t meaning to imply that your IT provider wants to take your money and run, but in such a situation, where is their incentive to go the extra mile for you? They’ve gotten their money, so it’s up to you to think of something for them to do.

That being said, there is a second kind of “prepaid” arrangement that we would recommend: a managed services agreement. What’s the difference? With IT managed services, you’re paying the same thing to your IT provider every month whether you have a problem or not. Unlike purchasing a block of hours, this puts them in a position where they’re responsible for keeping your company’s technology working smoothly. Otherwise, it’s only going to take more of their time and expense to get your business back on track. In other words, you aren’t paying for the time, but for the completed job.

That’s a subtle difference, but it’s the difference between a great value and a potential waste of your investment. When it comes to paying for IT up front or at regular intervals, smart business owners will go for managed services every time. It might sound more constricting than just paying for a few hours, but it’s also a much better deal.

PostHeaderIcon Great Technology For The New Year

Technology is continually transforming and evolving and thus I’m generally curious to see what will be of use and helpful for me in the New Year. There are various new services and gadgets appearing on the scene but in amongst plenty of gimmicks there may be some genuine technological nuggets.

I’m going to try to pick out just two pieces of very current technology that can definitely play an important role for me in the New Year ahead.

1. My initial choice is IPTV. IPTV has been playing an ever more crucial part in lots of aspects of our every day lives, usually without us even recognising that we are witnessing IPTV solutions. With the advance of smart TV’s, this technology is already showing up inside our homes with all the elegant and appealing options it comes packed with. You may already know that this technology is at the heart of products and services like the BBC’s online iPlayer but luckily you can now have a similar advanced facilities within your lounge.

Smart TV’s are a mixture of an advanced computer and a high specification television set. It is possible to stream your most desirable movies straight into your living room, so no longer will you be needing to panic about returning DVDs to the rental store. You can even browse the net from your Television and also run countless apps in the same manner we have become accustomed to on our smart phones. This is the excellent mixture of the many things that are necessary in our modern-day lives into just one simple, smart bundle.

2. The other item of increasingly accepted technology that I love is a mobile repeater system. A mobile repeater is quite simply a system to improve the signal and therefore the reception of mobile devices in inadequate reception areas. These bad areas could be office developments with deep concrete walls, basement office buildings, properties with many steel beams or just the inconvenience of a very rural location. Mobile repeaters work just like a Television aerial in that they offer amplification to the mobile signal, hence providing mobile phone coverage where it otherwise had not been possible. As you can imagine it is crucial for many organisations to provide their employees with a good quality cellular signal and hence this technology is increasingly in demand.

It is certainly hard to only decide on two pieces of current technology that will have a major impact over the coming year but for me the two above are my present favourites. Now I’m off to surf the web on my TV!

PostHeaderIcon Application Development for iPad: Know the Latest IOS 5

Apple’s iPad2 broke all the sales records this year. Being the most efficient, sleek and light-weight tablet performing to its best, Apple shipped 13 million iPad units in Q3 2011. An impressive figure showing 36.8 percent growth left Apple being the top-most tablet vendor. With over 200 new features, the world’s most advanced operating system is only getting better. With the launch of iOS 5, Apple devices show fast improvement and sale. Further, the special features of iOS5 encouraged iPad application development even more.

iPad developers focus on some of the most competitive iOS 5 features for developing robust apps based on the new operating system.

iOS 5 Killer features

iPad has always been one of the most sophisticated devices. With its fast revolution, it always has something new to offer its users. This time, with iOS 5

Apple offers the following:

Notification Center: The notification center, in iOS 5, has been fine-tuned for minimal interruptions. Replacing its annoying pop-up notification system, iPad development allows users to set up the way their notification should arrive on their devices. Users can also select the option for no notification. They can swipe the screen to reach the app for seeing the message. However, if users wish to ignore the message, the message will simply disappear.

IMessage: IMessage offers functionality similar to many message applications developed for Android and other smart phone platforms. Users can send and receive text or instant messages to any of the iOS 5-enabled devices, for free. As this messaging service uses the internet, users don’t have to pay for each message as per the network plan. Apple OS-5 provides direct access to this feature. Also, users can address the message to either an email address or a phone number. It includes intelligent functions that automatically find friends using the same version of the Operating System.

Integration with iCloud: iCloud is a service that helps the content to sync to all the iOS-based devices. Abandoning the obsolete wired technology, iCloud adopted wireless sync practices. Only iOS 5-upgraded devices enjoy iCloud service. It holds a close association with iTunes. However, if users wish to sync larger content, wired sync is always faster.

Multi-touch gestures: This is one of the most challenging arenas for iPad application developers engaging in iPad application development. Apple OS version 5 offers the neatest trick of pinching the screen with four or five fingers for returning from any application to the Home screen.

Apple’s new market gaining practice

Awakened by the new cost-conscious emerging markets, Apple is prepping for a small, low-budget tablet device. According to the report, smaller version of the iPad, iPad mini, is to be launched with the same, 1024 by 768, screen resolution as the current iPad 2. Due to the smaller display, Apple will increase the pixel density, thus providing a crisper image.

Apparently, Apple began the development of iPad 2′s successor, infusing several benchmark features in the device. Allegedly, Apple plans iPad 3′s launch in the first quarter of 2012. It will boost the iPad 3′s resolution and proffer a better hardware configuration as compared to the current Apple devices.

With the growing sales of Apple’s iPad and iPhone devices, iPhone and iPad app development is flourishing. Among recent apps, HeyStak is popular. Unlike, Microsoft’s search initiative, HeyStak is a social search that powers the social aspect of search. Disney recently introduced an application called Puffle Launch. It’s a cool game somewhat a mix of pinball and Super Mario. This would probably become users’ favorite pick of the month.

PostHeaderIcon How to Improve a Network

The main goal of Quality of Service is to offer priority and committed bandwidth, less jitter and latency and finally reduce packet loss.

When creating Quality of Service rules for a business, it is vital to emphasize on which traffic requires special treatment. Network architects need to consider how Quality of Service problems affect not only the network equipment but also the applications that use the net. Employers identify service quality based on two measures: The speed with which the net responds to their needs and the ease of use of the applications they want to use.

Quality of Service helps to reduce these problems. Several Cisco network devices have built-in Quality of Service mechanisms. Particular applications are very sensitive to bandwidth requirements, packet delays, net jitter as well as packet loss. Real-time IP telephony and streaming video always need special treatment.

IP Telephony Requirements

Voice traffic needs more than a simple connection between devices. The quality of the transmissions is very essential. When delays happen, voices break up and sound becomes distorted. IP telephony requires that Quality of Service mechanisms are enabled. It is important that voice packets have low latency as well as low jitter at every single hop along a given path.

Streaming Video Requirements

Streaming video is a video feed that is typically sent from recorded files. This media stream is sent as a multicast so many employers can watch the stream at the same time. In a net without Quality of Service, all TCP/IP packets get the same treatment, and as a result, real-time applications suffer.

QoS policies do not generate more bandwidth of course. As an alternative, it prioritizes bandwidth use to support new technologies like IP telephony. QoS manages priority traffic on converged nets.

Voice and Data Traffic

In a converged net, continuous, small-packet voice traffic contests with large, asymmetrical data flows such as file transfers. Even though usually the packets carrying voice traffic on a network are not big, delays that happen while they cross the network will produce low voice quality. Files from real-time applications, should be processed at the same rate as it is sent. Consequently, VoIP uses User Datagram Protocolthat is a best-effort transport protocol. On the other hand, packets that carry file transfer data are usually large. These packets use transmission control protocol.

It is likely to retransmit part of a data file, but it is not possible to retransmit part of a voice dialogue. Therefore, voice and video traffic must have much better priority over data traffic.
Goldendoodles are loving and calm dogsfor which they have gained recognition for after they was first developed in the 1990s. The Goldendoodle has a curly coat of about two to three inches in length, as his tail, body, ears, and legs have longer hairs compared to the hair on his head and muzzle where it tends to be shorter. The variety in color of coats are black, copper, white, cream, gray, golden, apricot, or red, although golden seems to be the most common coat color. Many owners like their dog’s hair to be clipped to avoid weekly or biweekly brushing. He requires 20 to 30 minutes of exercise daily. Goldendoodle puppies for sale in Illinois are accepted by everyone very easily as they are friendly, intelligent and have a very accommodating nature. Goldendoodles are very easy to train and are a good match for beginners or hesitant owners.
